Signed copy of ‘Flying is my Life’ – Hanna Reitsch autobiography. 1953 German hard-back publication. The world’s first female test pilot and helicopter pilot, Hanna flew everything the 3rd Reich had, from the first helicopter (the Focke-Achgelis) to the prototype of a piloted V-1 Rocket. In 1945 she flew to the ‘Fuhrer Bunker’ to beg Adolf that he should let her die alongside him. When he refused she flew the last plane out of Berlin, just hours before the city fell to the Soviets. Only one of three women ever to be awarded the Iron Cross First Class. The only woman ever to be awarded the Pilot Observer Badge in Gold with Diamonds. Cover is a bit grubby but inside pages are very clean.
